ANN ARBOR CHARTER TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 2005
This regular meeting of the Ann Arbor Charter Township Planning Commission was called to order at 7:55 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Township Hall, 3792 Pontiac Trail, Ann Arbor Charter Township, Michigan by Kris Olsson, Chair.
Commissioners present: Chair Kris Olsson, and Commissioners Diane O’Connell, John Allison and James Snyder.
Also present: Township Attorney Sandra Sorini Elser and Township Supervisor Michael Moran.
Absent: Commissioners Randolph Perry and Richard Mitchell.
Citizen Participation No citizens signed up to speak.
Approval of Minutes Mr. Allison would like to add to the Silverman/ Northbrooke stating that, “Mr. Allison acknowledged a letter from petitioner offering to donate farm land to Ann Arbor Township if an acceptable owner could not be identified. He also presented the results of informal discussions with MFCA who have an interest in ownership of the farm land.” Mr. Allison also suggested the deletion of units “14 and 15, and” in Resolution #1 on page 7, 2 nd paragraph. With those corrections Mr. Allison moved to approve the minutes of December 6, 2004 and Ms. O’Connell seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
Communications Mr. Allison reported back from the December 20, 2004 meeting of the Township Board of Trustees that there are many vacancies on several committees. Those committees being: WATS and SEMCOG, Board of Review, Planning Commission and the County Planning Advisory Board.
New Business
Conditional Use Permit CU-164-04 Day Care Adnan & Miassar Dari, 4289 Shetland Drive Mr. Allison moved that a public hearing be set for February 7, 2005 and Ms. O’Connell seconded the motion for a conditional use permit for a daycare at 4289 Shetland Drive. The Commission approved the motion unanimously.
Approval of Meeting Dates Schedule for 2005 Ms. O’Connell made a motion to approve the following meeting dates for the Planning Commission with the changes of Monday, July 5 to Tuesday, July 6 and Monday, January 2 to Monday, January 9, 2006. Mr. Snyder seconded the motion. The motion was adopted unanimously.

Old Business
Definition of “ Child Care Center” Mr. Allison made a motion that a public hearing be set for changing current zoning ordinance definitions to include definitions of Child Care Center and Day Care Home. Ms. O’Connell seconded the motion, which was adopted unanimously. The public hearing will be on February 7, 2005.
A public hearing was set for February 7, 2005 at the Planning Commission meeting on December 6, 2004 for the amendment to the zoning ordinance revising permitted conditional uses in areas zoned R-C, A-1 and A-R. An amended draft was proposed for the Planning Commission review.
Public Comment There was no public comment offered.
Adjournment On a motion made by Mr. Snyder and seconded by Mr. Allison, the Commission adjourned the meeting at approximately 8:10 p.m.
